1.    Minimum of 25 bags of 60 kg each of parchment for each lot need to be submitted.

2.    Each lot must be traceable to farmers that produced that lot. This means each lot must be accompanied with a list of farmers.

3.    There must be an agreement between Coffee washing station owner and the farmers that produced the winning lot in order to the latter to be rewarded of producing that high quality coffee. Here’s the way Alliance for coffee Excellence has computed this rewarding system.

a.    Coffee washing station production cost FOT Kigali +10% of the profit must return to the CWS owner. (All stakeholder must agree on the production cost and make a final decision ): Here’re the list of items to be computed for the cost of production

  • Price for cherry
  • Wet mill production cost
  • Transport from CWS to bonded warehouse, Kigali

All above cover almost $ 1.5/lb or $ 3.3/kg that go back to CWS owner plus the 10% of the profit.
b.    Following are covered by the organizing funds:

  • Dry mill cost
  • Document fees
  • Storage
  • Jute bags
  • Administration fees
  • Taxes
  • Sample shipping

b.    15% of the remaining on Gross sales to the Organizing committee
c.    The rest go to farmers that produced  the winning lots

4.    The coffee to be sold must be screen 15+ and no defects
5.    The competition is open to all producers
6.    There is no limit in the number of lots submitted by a CWS. A CWS can submit as many as lots as they wish so long as the lots are all traceable back to group of unique producers.
7.    A producer can be part of only one submitted lot. S/he can not be listed on multiple lots from one cws.
